Trezor.io/Start is the official onboarding gateway provided by SatoshiLabs to initialize and secure your Trezor hardware wallet. Whether you have a Model One, Model T, Safe Series, or any newer version, this page guides you step-by-step through setup, firmware updates, wallet creation (or recovery), and securing your recovery seed. All instructions and software accessed via this portal are verified, current, and secure.
You will need your Trezor device, a USB cable, a computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux preferred), and access to a secure internet connection. Also have a safe, offline place to record your recovery seed (paper, metal seed storage, etc.).
Open your web browser and go to https://trezor.io/start — double check this is spelled correctly and secured (HTTPS lock icon). Bookmark it so future access is safe and direct.
Through the Start page, download Trezor Suite (desktop) or access via browser/web app. Install it on your system. The Suite is the central dashboard from where you manage your wallet, view balances, send/receive funds, and more.
Connect your Trezor via USB. If firmware is needed (either first time or an update), the Suite will prompt and install. Updates are signed and verified to prevent tampered firmware.
Choose to create a new wallet (you’ll be given a recovery seed) or recover an existing one using your seed phrase (12, 18, or 24 words depending on your wallet model). Always follow instructions exactly, and verify key steps.
This is arguably the most critical part: write your seed phrase by hand on the supplied card or paper, store it offline in a safe place (fireproof/waterproof where possible). Never take photos, store in cloud services, or share with anyone.
Protect physical access to your device by setting a PIN. For extra security, you may also enable an optional passphrase which acts as a hidden “layer” over your wallet—if supported. Confirm PIN or passphrase entries on the device screen itself.
After setup is complete, you can select which cryptocurrencies to track and use. Send/receive, exchange, stake, or integrate with other services — all operations where your private keys remain isolated on the device.
Yes. It is the only officially maintained onboarding portal by SatoshiLabs. All software, firmware, and instructions are verified. Always check the URL and certificate to ensure security.
No. Every step plays an essential role in the security of your crypto assets. Skipping backup can lead to permanent loss. Using outdated firmware may leave your device vulnerable.
Without your seed phrase, you won’t be able to recover access if your device is lost or damaged. That’s why storing it safely and offline is critical.
In most cases, the full experience is on desktop. Some functions may work via compatible mobile browser or apps, depending on device model and browser support. But for highest reliability, use a computer.
